Fast for a Day & Vigil for Syria

UCLan Islamic Society invites you to (Nafl/Voluntary/Qadha/Missed) fast with us and hold a candle-lit vigil, in support of the victims of the Syrian uprising.

When: TOMORROW (Thursday 15th of February 2012)

Venue: Foster Refectory (Canteen)

 Time: 17:00 until 20:00

We will be providing FREE IFTAR after Maghrib prayer in Foster Refectory (Canteen),

upon which after, we hope to hold a candle lit vigil in remembrance of those who have died.

 Feel free to bring some starters, light food and some donation to the event!

It is coming up to the 1 year anniversary of the Syrian uprising where nearly 8 000 have died, 70 000 detained and tortured. The people of Syria are dying for their freedom and facing unimaginable horror, it is now a humanitarian crisis as the situation is becoming increasingly dire by the day. Men, women, children and even whole families are massacred in ways we would never wish upon anyone.

 In light of this we have decided to hold a fast this Thursday (TOMORROW), and also as it is Sunnah and we ask Allah (SWT) to give the Syrian people their freedom soon, bring peace and give patience to the hearts of those that suffered loss.

 The Messenger of Allah (saw) said; Three supplications will not be rejected  by Allah (swt), the supplication of the parent for his child, the supplication of the one who is fasting, and the supplication of the traveller.

 Absolutely all are welcome regardless of whether you are observing a fast or NOT :)

 All we ask of you is to come along and show your support by remembering our Brothers and Sisters of Syria, the opressed, the suffering and the Muslim Ummah in your prayers.

 
 "No one in Syria is too young, no one is unaffected, no son's are too liberal, no daughters are off limits.
 
 Even if you are a scholar, if you are a woman, if you have faith in the Lord, if you are human being you are at risk."


All donations collected will be given to Islamic Relief who are holding a Syria appeal to help those that have been affected.
